Typical transmission symptoms owners report

  • Vehicle suddenly shudders, drops into neutral, and refuses to accept throttle before lurching hard into first gear.
  • Transmission fails to engage in Drive or Reverse until the engine is revved to high RPM, similar to a slipping clutch.
  • Front CV axles fail prematurely, producing intense vibration or shaking felt through the front end between 30 and 50 mph.
  • Powertrain or power malfunction warning light appears while driving, cutting power output down to around 20 mph.
  • Vehicle loses all power and shuts down completely while underway, sometimes failing to restart.
  • Transmission will not shift into reverse, accompanied by loud, high RPM engine noise; dealer traced it to a broken transmission fluid sensor.
