Which kinds of partners

• Vehicle history reports — services that check a VIN for accidents, title problems and odometer history before you buy a used car.
• Extended coverage — providers of vehicle service contracts for owners who plan to keep a car past its factory warranty.
• Instant cash offers — services that give owners a purchase offer for their vehicle.

We only add a partner category when it matches a real decision a reader is making on that page (buying, keeping or selling a specific model year). The current list of partners is published on this page and updated when it changes.

How we are paid

Partners pay a fixed fee or a percentage per completed purchase, quote or offer. Payment never depends on what we write about a vehicle, and no partner pays for placement on a specific make, model or year.

Why it cannot affect ratings

• Verdicts and the Complaint Index are computed by code from NHTSA and EPA data before any commercial block is rendered. Partner code has no access to that pipeline. See the methodology.
• Partner blocks appear only after the quick answer and the first block of data, never above them.
• Every partner link is marked rel="sponsored" and labeled next to the button.
• A build-time audit checks that every number shown on a page equals the structured data for that vehicle, so a commercial unit cannot alter a figure.
