Typical transmission symptoms owners report
- Vehicle unexpectedly shifts into neutral while driving at highway speed, sometimes only after hours of continuous driving.
- Sudden deceleration from higher speed down to around 20 MPH accompanied by a check engine light, later traced by a dealer to battery failure.
- Vehicle rolled backward while parked uphill after the owner exited to lower the tailgate, resulting in a crash into a railing.
- CV axle joint near the engine failed and leaked grease while still driveable, on a front-wheel-drive hybrid model.
- Loss of combustion engine engagement after a dead battery jump-start, leaving the vehicle limited to very low speed on the hybrid battery alone.
- Engine or drivetrain shuddering and lurching forward shortly after starting, requiring extra brake pressure to stop the vehicle.
